HARMONY

Goddess of absolute harmony, balance and unity, Harmonia was the daughter of Ares and Venus. From the union of these two polar opposite forces, creative love (Venus) and war and destruction (Mars), came the ultimate balance, Harmony.

Harmony controls peace and balance in all areas of life, from birth, marriage, development and death. The later Greek and Roman writers depict Harmonia, more abstractly, as the deity who controls the cosmic balance.

Her name also means harmony and is the name given by the ancient Greeks to the Greek personification of the order and symmetry of the universe.

The number 8 is defined as a symbol of Harmony, a number formed by the two snakes entwined on the caduceus of Mercury, symbolizing opposing forces and duality as well as the double helix of DNA.
