THEA THEMIS

Themis, according to Greek mythology, belonged to the Titans, the children of Gaia and Uranus. She was the goddess of law and natural and moral order, as well as etiquette.

Having inherited her mother's divination ability, Themis foresaw the future and was the first to settle in the Oracle of Delphi. Her abilities elevated and established her as the goddess of divine justice and prophecy. The law it represents is sacred, applies, likewise, to the gods, and is superior even to their will.

Themis presided among the earliest diviners. In this role, he was the divine voice that gave the first commandment to humanity, the primary laws of justice and morality - the principles of piety, the rules of hospitality and good government.

She was the second wife of Zeus but his first and main advisor. Their marriage marked the guarantee of fixed rules for mortals and gods. Themis is often depicted sitting behind the throne of Zeus, advising him on the principles of divine law and the rules of fate.

In the Greek language, the word themis is derived from the verb tithimi and denotes what has been established, what is valid and refers to the divine law.
